Little did she know the library is barely more than a storage closet stuffed with dusty, outdated books. What the community really needs is a new building. But the only funds available are those being channeled into the new town square, and the landscape architect in charge of the project wants nothing to do with her plans.

All Austin Williams wants to do is get the town square project finished so he can do right by the family business and then extricate himself from the town that reveres the brother who cost him so much. The story is heartfelt and touching with its strong themes of forgiveness and redemption as well as many loving characters old and new. Hadley Beckett's Next Dish by Bethany Turner is a great escape from reality. As a food lover and cook, I enjoyed the premise from this story. I loved watching the two main characters, Hadley and Max, grow and evolve from the two bickering costars they started as. Their characters gave me a Gordon Ramsey vs a Ree Drummond vibe. (Which might not be accurate because I've never actually watched anything by Ree Drummond but when I read this book I kind of just pictured her in my mind for Hadley.) Overall the whole story from start to finish was funny, heartwarming, and real. Home is the place to heal, right? At least, that's what Dillon Michaels is hoping as she leaves her disappointing career and nonstarter love life behind to help her grieving and aging grandfather on his small Oregon farm. The only problem? Her eccentric mother beat her there and has taken over Dillon's old room. After a few nights sleeping on a sagging sofa, Dillon is ready to give up, until she receives an unlikely gift--her grandfather's run-down vintage camp trailer, which she quickly resolves to restore with the help of Jordan Atwood, the handsome owner of the local hardware store.

But just when things are finally beginning to run smoothly, Dillon's noncommittal ex-boyfriend shows up with roses . . . and a ring.

The Happy Camper by Melody Carlson is quick read and a very light-hearted story that is a great get-away from life, one that we might all need right about now. Dillon is a character who wasn't quite my cup of tea but I did enjoy the renovation of her cute little camper and her relationships with those that surrounded her. The Happy Camper is a fast paced story of romance and restoration and might be a good read for you if you're a fan of Hallmark style stories and country life. If you've never wanted to live the camper life after finishing this story you might change your mind!

Ten years after her parents were killed, Evelyn Radcliffe is once more homeless. The orphanage that was her refuge and later her workplace has burned to the ground, and only she and a young orphan girl have escaped. In her wildest dreams, Esther could never have imagined that she would end up as queen of Persia. Yet she knows better than to become complacent. Another of Xerxes's wives is vying for position, and his closest advisor has a deep and dangerous grudge against Esther's adoptive father. Caught in the middle of palace politics, Esther will find herself in an impossible position: risk her life or consign her people to annihilation

Star of Persia by Jill Eileen Smith is a wonderful fiction retelling of Esther's story from the Bible. I've read several fiction retelling of Esther before and while none of them disappointed me, I think this one took it a step farther to be different. Jill Eileen Smith stays true to the biblical account but digs deeper into the history surrounding this story. I love how she brought some new characters (or honestly historical figures) into play. Being a fan of Esther I never thought to look into other historical accounts about the people surrounding her.

Again Star of Persia by Jill Eileen Smith is a wonderful book a I recommend it to all who love biblical retellings.

In 1943, Private Clay Paxton trains hard with the US Army Rangers at Camp Forrest, Tennessee, determined to do his best in the upcoming Allied invasion of France. With his future stolen by his brothers' betrayal, Clay has only one thing to live for--fulfilling the recurring dream of his death.

The Land Beneath Us by Sarah Sundin is a brilliant WWII novel with a message of grace and forgiveness beautifully weaved throughout the book. I thoroughly enjoyed watching both the characters of Leah and Clay grow as the story progressed. They both presented interesting points of view to the plot and the history of the war. As with her other books Sarah Sundin does a great job with her historical research and with how she includes it into her stories. I learned a lot about Rangers as well as WWII.

Ruby Weaver's curly red hair isn't the only thing that sets her apart from her Amish community in 1863. Twenty-eight and single, Ruby doesn't believe a woman needs to be married in order to be happy. Her ailing friend Lovinia Fischer, however, has other ideas and wants Ruby to promise to marry her husband after she dies. Never imagining she'd have to fulfill that vow, Ruby agrees. And she's not the only one. Lovinia has extracted a similar promise from her husband, Gideon.

With both Ruby and Gideon reluctant to keep their promises, a compromise must be reached. Ruby will spend her days with Gideon's family--helping to raise the children and keep the house--but her nights will be spent at her sister's neighboring house. But this arrangement raises eyebrows in their conservative Amish community, and it soon becomes clear that Ruby must make a decision--marry Gideon or turn her back on her friend, the children she's grown to love . . . and their father.
The Roll of the Drums by Jan Drexler is such a sweet story. This Amish romance is set in the civil war and finds these two characters struggling with not only feelings and faith, but fear of a not so distant war. You could tell a lot of research and knowledge went into the creation of The Roll of the Drums and the twists and turns in this story take you on a journey. If you are a fan of Amish or historical fiction be sure to pick up this book as well as the first in this series.

Dark Ambitions by Irene Hannon is the third book in her Code of Honor series and a thrilling suspense read. Old and new characters combine to create a compelling mystery, that has to have become one of my favorites by Hannon. Full of shocking twists and turns Dark Ambitions will keep you on the balls of your feet from beginning to end. If you are a fan of Irene Hannon or just a suspense novel lover in general you will be sure to enjoy this book.

Meg Pero has been assisting her photographer father since she was big enough to carry his equipment, so when he dies she is determined to take over his profession--starting with fulfilling the contract he signed to serve on an Army survey of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon in 1871. What she doesn't realize is that the leader of the expedition is none other than the man she once refused to marry.

Captain Ben Coleridge would like nothing more than to leave without the woman who broke his heart, but he refuses to wait even one more day to get started. A Distance Too Grand by Regina Scott is a fantastic historical romance. It was very easy to fall in love with these two main characters, Meg and Ben, as well as the other secondary characters. Their story is one that will have you turning the pages quickly. A Distance Too Grand, the first book in the American Wonders Collection is a wonderful story of adventure, faith, and love.

Krista Galloway is not a fan of Christmas. After her rough childhood in multiple foster homes, the holiday season just brings too many bad memories to the surface. But when she accepts a job as a city manager in the mountain town of Winter Hill, Washington, Christmas is part of the deal. The small town is famous for its Christmasville celebration, something that the city manager . . . well, manages.

As she tries to make her tiny new apartment feel like home for her and her eight-year-old daughter, Emily, Krista begins to wonder if this move was a mistake. She doesn't always feel welcomed in the close-knit town, and Emily continually wonders, "Where's the snow?" Can a friendly stranger and his family help restore Krista's Christmas spirit before the big day?
Christmas in Winter Hill by Melody Carlson is the perfect way to start of your holiday season. This novella is just what you need to jump start your need to binge everything Christmas. Christmas in Winter Hill is a great addition to Carlson's collection of Christmas novellas.

In 1844, two years before the Donner Party, the Stevens-Murphy company left Missouri to be the first wagons into California through the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Mostly Irish Catholics, the party sought religious freedom and education in the mission-dominated land and enjoyed a safe journey--until October, when a heavy snowstorm forced difficult decisions. The first of many for young Mary Sullivan, newlywed Sarah Montgomery, the widow Ellen Murphy, and her pregnant sister-in-law Maolisa.

When the party separates in three directions, each risks losing those they loved and faces the prospect of learning that adversity can destroy or redefine. Two women and four men go overland around Lake Tahoe, three men stay to guard the heaviest wagons--and the rest of the party, including eight women and seventeen children, huddle in a makeshift cabin at the headwaters of the Yuba River waiting for rescue . . . or their deaths.
When investigator Gabriel Chavez had his cover blown by an aggressive reporter, the silver lining was being able to rejoin the dive team. The downside? Dive team captain Anissa Bell--a woman who both fascinates and frustrates him.

Anissa grew up as a missionary kid on the Micronesian island of Yap and always planned to return after college. What they'll discover is that revenge has no statute of limitations.
Realtor Hannah Thornton has many talents. Unfortunately, selling houses in the town where her family name is practically poison isn't one of them. When a business tycoon determines to raze historic homes in the small town of Heritage, Michigan, and replace them with a strip mall, Hannah resolves to stop him. She sets about helping Heritage win a restoration grant that will put the town back on the map--and hopefully finally repay the financial debt Hannah's mother caused the town. But at first no one supports her efforts--not even her best friend, Luke.

Luke Johnson may have grown up in Heritage, but as a foster kid he never truly felt as if he belonged. Now he has a chance to score a job as assistant fire chief and earn his place in the town. But when the interview process and Hannah's restoration project start unearthing things from his past, Luke must decide if belonging is worth the pain of being honest about who he is--and who he was.
Ten years ago, Grace saw something that would forever change the course of history. When evil in its purest form is unleashed on the world, she and others from their religious community are already hidden deep in the hills of Tennessee, abiding by every rule that will keep them safe, pure--and alive. As long as they stay there, behind the red perimeter.

Her older brother's questions and the arrival of the first outsiders she's seen in a decade set in motion events that will question everything Grace has built her life on. Enemies rise on all sides--but who is the real enemy? And what will it cost her to uncover the truth?
The Girl Behind the Red Rope by Ted Dekker and Rachelle Dekker is a very thought provoking read. This is a book that you read and then think about for a few days. Its message will stick with you and hopefully make you think about things in your own story. I enjoyed the premise and the discussion of fears. I also thought the father/daughter writing duo did a great job on this book and look forward to reading future collaborations by the two of them.

Research scientist Caitlyn Lindsey is convinced that someone is taking out her team one by one. And now Caitlyn herself has miraculously survived a hit-and-run. Anne Norris moved to Savannah, Georgia, for a fresh start. Now her pirate-tour business is flagging, and paying the rent requires more than wishful thinking. When she discovers evidence of a shipwreck off the coast of Tybee Island, she knows it could be just the boon she needs to stay afloat. She takes her findings to local museum director Carter Hale for confirmation, but she runs after a disastrous first meeting.

Carter has been searching for the location of the wreck detailed in the worn pages of an 18th-century diary, the discovery of which could open the door to his dream job at a prestigious museum. But convincing Anne to help him fill in the missing pieces of the puzzle is no easy task. And working with Carter means that Anne will have to do the one thing she swore she'd never do again: trust a man.

Finding a monetary backer and sticking with a search that's turning up nothing will take all their dedication--and every secret they've tried to hide. If they can find the lost ship, they may discover a treasure worth more than all the pirate gold in the world--love.

FBI Special Agent Lincoln St. John is living his own personal nightmare. When the woman he loves, Allison Radcliffe, is killed, he devotes his life to tracking down the killers and making them pay for their crimes. He expected it to be a challenge. What he never expected was to find Allison very much alive shortly after her "murder." As his anger and hurt mix with relief, Linc isn't sure how he's supposed to feel. One thing he does know for sure: he and Allison will have to work together to stop a killer before she dies a second time--this time for good.

Vow of Justice by Lynette Eason is such an exciting read! I loved the premise of this story and the mystery had some fun twists. The characters are familiar if you've read the previous books in this series but even if you haven't don't be afraid to jump in, it is it's own story. The action and intrigue will have you turning the pages until late into the night. Vow of Justice is a great conclusion to the Blue Justice series, be sure not to miss it.

For three years, Penny Ercanbeck has been opening other people's mail. Dead ends are a reality for clerks at the Dead Letter Office. Still she dreams of something more--a bit of intrigue, a taste of romance, or at least a touch less loneliness. When a letter from a brokenhearted man to his one true love falls into her hands, Penny seizes this chance to do something heroic. It becomes her mission to place this lost letter into the hands of its intended recipient.

Thomas left his former life with no intention of ending up in Azure Springs, Iowa. He certainly didn't expect a happy ending after what he had done. All he wanted to do was run and never look back. In a moment of desperation, he began to write, never really expecting a reply.

When Penny's undertaking leads her to the intriguing man who touched her soul with his words, everything grows more complicated. She wants to find the rightful owner of the letter and yet she finds herself caring--perhaps too much--for the one who wrote it.
Yours Truly, Thomas by Rachel Fordham is the perfect sweet romance for your summer. Penny is a delightful character who is full of hope. I loved seeing how her actions impacted Thomas' life and others. I also loved the premise of this novel and found it to have a good bit of intrigue mixed in to keep you turning the pages. Yours Truly, Thomas is the perfect book to read when you need an escape into a someone else's story.

Some say the great mystery of how one can live in two worlds at once died with Thomas Hunter many years ago. Still others that the gateway to that greater reality was and is only the stuff of dreams.

They are wrong. In the small town of Eden, Utah, a blind girl named Rachelle Matthews is about to find out just how wrong.

When a procedure meant to restore Rachelle's sight goes awry, she begins to dream of another world so real that she wonders if Earth might only be a dream experienced when she falls asleep in that reality. Who is a simple blind girl to have such strange and fantastic dreams?

She's the prophesied one who must find and recover five ancient seals--in both worlds--before powerful enemies destroy her. If Rachelle succeeds in her quest, peace will reign. If she fails, both worlds will forever be locked in darkness.

So begins a two-volume saga of high stakes and a mind-bending quest to find an ancient path that will save humanity. The clock is ticking; the end rushes forward.

Rachelle Matthews, who grew up in the small town of Eden, Utah, discovered just how wrong when she dreamed and awoke in another world. There she learned that she was the 49th Mystic, the prophesied one, tasked with finding five ancient seals before powerful enemies destroy her. If Rachelle succeeds in her quest, peace will reign. If she fails, the world will forever be locked in darkness.

In The 49th Mystic, Rachelle found the first three of those five seals through great peril and mind-altering adventure. But two seals remain hidden and the fate of both worlds hangs in their balance.

As Rachelle Matthews sits deep in a dungeon, Vlad Smith is just getting started. Thomas Hunter's world is about to be turned inside out. The mystics say that there is no defense against the Fifth Seal--but finding it will cost Rachelle everything.

So begins the final volume of high stakes in one girl's quest to find an ancient path that will save humanity.

The 49th Mystic and The Rise of the Mystics by Ted Dekker are two wonderful reads. Especially for any and all fans of Dekker and of his Circle series. I remember the Circle series being the first books of his that I read back when I was in high school and I've enjoyed his writing ever since. That being said The 49th Mystic and The Rise of the Mystics did not disappoint. I feel like you could probably pick up these books without having read the Circle series but I suggest reading it first anyways because its great. Rachelle is a great character to follow throughout this series. As a reader I feel like you will be able to discover things about yourself along with the characters in the books. The story line is captivating and I once again fell in love with this universe jumping style. Overall Beyond the Circle is a great two book series for lovers of Ted Dekker's wonderful storytelling.

Every year for the past fifty-four years, the residents of Pinsbury Port have received a mysterious letter inviting all eligible-aged boys to compete for an esteemed scholarship to the all-male Stemwick University. The poorer residents look to see if their names are on the list. The wealthier look to see how likely their sons are to survive. And Rhen Tellur opens it to see if she can derive which substances the ink and parchment are created from, using her father’s microscope.

To Best the Boys by Mary Weber is a fantastical young adult book. It feature spunky characters and an interesting premise. What I really appreciated about how the author told this story is how both all types of women were validated. I hate when a book is supposed to be empowering young females to be whatever they want yet puts down the character who, like Seleni, just really want to be a wife in mother. Both cousins wanted different things yet they supported one another. Also I really enjoyed the puzzles in the labyrinth. All in all I think To Best the Boys is a great novel for young women (and men) to read.

He compels Elizabeth "Lizzie" Clouston—governess to the McGavock family at the Carnton mansion—to intervene should the surgeon decide to amputate. True to her word, Lizzie speaks on his behalf and saves not only the captain's leg but also his life.

When a fourteen-year-old soldier dies in Lizzie's arms that night, the boy's final words, whispered with urgency, demand that Lizzie deliver them to their intended recipient. But all she has is the boy's first name. And, as she soon discovers, there's no record of him ever having enlisted. How can she set out alone across a land so divided by war and hatred to honor her pledge? Even more, does she dare accept Captain Jones's offer to accompany her? As he coalesces at Carnton, romance has blossomed between him and Lizzie—a woman already betrothed to a man she does not love.

With This Pledge by Tamera Alexander is the first book in her new series The Carnton Novels. Lizzie's story is one of intense faith and love during the Civil War. I loved how Lizzie and Roland's relationship formed and grew throughout the story through their conversations and letters. As always Tamera Alexander amazes me with her attention to historical details. She does a wonderful job blending her research of the time and the people into her fictional world to create an amazing novel filled with romance and faith. If you have loved any of her past books you will not be disappointed with With This Pledge.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 14px;">After three years on a whaling voyage, Henry Macy returns to Nantucket to news that his grandmother has passed, bequeathing her vast fortune to him and his sister, Hitty. And it was truly vast. But Lillian Coffin was no fool. The inheritance comes with a steep cost, including when they should marry and whom--a Quaker in good standing, of course. But if they relinquish the inheritance, it all goes to Tristram Macy, their father's thieving business partner.

The Light Before Day by Suzanne Woods Fisher was a great read for a cozy afternoon. It is a good blend of historical tidbits and romance that is sure too have you engrossed until the very end. I enjoyed Hitty and Henry's close sibling relationship throughout the book as they both dealt with their respective little love triangles. The Light Before Day is the final installment in Suzanne Woods Fisher's Nantucket Legacy series and I think that everyone would agree that it was a wonderful ending.

Ninety years ago, Millie Sullivan's great-grandmother was a guest at oil tycoon Howard Dawkins' palatial estate on the shore of St. Simons Island, Georgia. Now, Millie plays a 1920s-era guest during tours of the same manor. But when her grandmother suggests that there is a lost diary containing the location of a hidden treasure on the estate, along with the true identity of Millie's great-grandfather, Millie sets out to find the truth of her heritage--and the fortune that might be hers. When security guard Ben Thornton discovers her snooping in the estate's private library, he threatens to have her fired. But her story seems almost too ludicrous to be fiction, and her offer to split the treasure is too tempting to pass up.

Millie and Ben's treasure hunt was full of intrigue, mystery and the perfect touch of romance. Each characters struggles throughout the story made them very easy to connect with as the reader. A Sparkle of Silver is the perfect start for Liz Johnson's newest series and is a must read for fans of the Prince Edward Island Dreams series.
